With Xynthesizr, users can create patterns and modify them in real-time or allow the app's morphing algorithms to do it for them. It also offers the ability to change scale, key, and transpose within a scale on-the-fly. Parameters of the internal synthesizer can be tweaked, or MIDI can be outputted to other apps and devices. Additionally, users can record their creations and share them with others.

General features of Xynthesizr include MIDI support for syncing and sending notes to synths, samplers, and drum machines. It also allows users to map notes to different MIDI channels for driving multiple apps or devices simultaneously. Furthermore, the app supports MIDI input for controlling transposition with note messages and adjusting synthesizer/sequencer parameters using CC messages. Xynthesizr offers Ableton Link support, Audiobus 3 support, and Inter-App Audio support. It comes bundled with over 40 presets and allows users to save, export, and import their own patterns and presets. Additionally, audio recording and exporting are available.

The sequencer features of Xynthesizr are designed for easy pattern editing with intuitive gestures. It incorporates Conway's Game of Life-like cellular automata and probability-based pattern morphing. Users have the option to limit pattern morphing to a selected area on the grid. The app allows for variable tempo, step length subdivision, and pattern length control. Each step can have its own adjustable velocity, and users can select different keys and scales with the ability to transpose in real-time. Xynthesizr also provides an option to tie consecutive notes of the same pitch to create longer notes. Users can shift and flip patterns as desired, and even create and utilize their custom scales and Life-like cellular automata rules. The app features color-coded octaves to enhance visual organization.

In terms of the synthesizer and effects, Xynthesizr boasts a powerful 32-bit floating-point sound engine and supports 16 voice polyphony. Each voice is equipped with two antialiased oscillators offering four waveforms (sine, triangle, sawtooth, square). It also features a 4-pole (24 dB/oct) low-pass resonant filter. The app includes two ADSR envelope generators for amplitude and filter cutoff frequency modulation, as well as two LFOs to modulate four selectable LFO targets (filter frequency, pitch, amplitude, second oscillator detune). Additionally, Xynthesizr offers stereo delay, reverb, and randomized panner effects.
